Jana Cholakovska is an international investigative reporter covering politics, climate and labor rights. Before joining the Investigative Reporting Workshop, Cholakovska was a fellow at the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University, where she reported on the disproportionate risks of heat-related illness and death among laborers in the South. As a freelancer, she covered New York City’s eviction crisis and Hurricane Ida’s devastation of its most vulnerable communities. She honed her reporting skills at the Investigative Reporting Lab in her native North Macedonia. She holds a dual degree in journalism and political science from New York University.
