Austin R. Ramsey is the Investigative Reporting Workshop’s 2019-2020 Graduate Fellow. He is a master’s student at American University and a former city government and politics reporter in rural Western Kentucky, where he worked at the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer.
He is also a part of AU’s investigative reporting practicum at The Washington Post, and he serves as president of the School of Communication’s Graduate Student Council.
Ramsey’s past work has focused on the intersection of policy and people. He has uncovered coal ash contaminants in municipal water systems, U.S. Forest Service burning practices and a rise in uninsured Kentuckians as a result of Medicaid Waiver programs.
