Book excerpts, series continue

Posted: Aug. 17, 2012 | Tags: economy

"The Betrayal of the American Dream" is the subtitle of our long-running project on how Washington and Wall Street have hurt working Americans. It is also the title of a new book by journalists Donald Barlett and James Steele. Our fourth and last excerpt from the book runs Sunday, Aug. 19, on the Workshop's site as well as The Philadelphia Inquirer's site and in its print edition. The Inquirer is the home of the original "What Went Wrong" series on the economy, which Barlett and Steele wrote 20 years ago.

Today we also begin an occasional series spotlighting some of the many readers who have shared their stories with us.

If you're interested in learning more about the project or book, go here.
